You've been elected to the leadership position of your club. You may have been a member "forever" or may have only recently joined. What is the true scope of the job, what are my resources, how do I do this? What is the organization (club, district, zone, International) expecting of me? Organization and planning will break up a job what may seem overwhelming into smaller manageable tasks. What this book helps you do is have strategies and methods to assist and provide meaningful choices, methods, and alternatives to common issues. As the leader, you will be running club meetings, board meetings, planning meetings, etc. Having a quick guide to "how to" on parliamentary procedures will assist you all year. A very useful skill in business also. Membership recruiting and retention is another common issue. Lots of easy to implement ideas. The weekly club planner provides an organizational structure to your weekly meeting, helps you remember to arrange for assistance with the Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, reciting the 4-way test, etc.; also, a reminder of the monthly RI focus area is included with that month's meeting planners. Don't get so wrapped up in the planning that you lose sight of what you are trying to do. Rotary needs be FUN and inclusive. It is the ability to get others to follow what you are advocating: to trust you; to respect you; and to feel that your vision and strategies are in everyone's best interests - not just your own.You were just selected/elected as president of your organization. This guide/manual/handbook will help you plan and organize your thoughts and activities for the year you will be President. So why is planning and organizing hot? Why is everyone telling me to get it done? It's your way to demonstrate that you are thoughtful and can think ahead - that you are not just about the big idea, but also about its execution. This is a powerful dichotomy to possess as a leader - the ability to not only be a visionary, but also have the drive to achieve the vision.Don't let what may feel like the tedious nature of sitting down to plan and organize stop you from achieving greatness as the leader of your club for a year. Let's consider what you can do today to get cozy and snuggle up to Planning and Organizing.A good team of officers is important to the efficient running of your Rotary Club. The following provides brief descriptions of the role each officer should assume; however, all officers should be familiar with the duties of other positions as well as their own. Each officer should be familiar with club, district, and international constitutions, bylaws, and policies. The responsibilities in each club are different, so you should use this information as a guide to be elaborated upon. The president of your club has two responsibilities which place this officer in a paradoxical situation. First, if a club is to be successful, the president must divide the responsibility of club leadership among fellow officers and club members. The use of delegated power is the only way to cope with large amounts of work in an efficient manner.
