-ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Mariko Giverink is a former homeschool mom of seventeen years and currently helps homeschool her grandchildren. She is known as a "Jill of all trades" but is especially passionate about gardening and teaching the lost arts of old-fashioned homemaking skills. Mariko is an expert seamstress who has won numerous awards for her textiles and art, including knitting, quilting, sewing, crewel work, embroidery, and photography. She opened The Homestead Porch in 2021, hosting classes for kids and adults, teaching everything from sewing, soap making, and home canning, to painting and jewelry making, to beekeeping and gardening. She's passionate about her organic garden, is a healthy lifestyle advocate, practices Brazilian jiujitsu, and is a professional musician. But Mariko's favorite title of all is "Nana" to her six grandkids.
