After surviving his first quest as the Sword of Ages, returning home was not the reprieve Aleksander expected. With the loss of a friend and the unrest growing across Zekhar, the world is starting to look different, and Tulathne is starting to feel further and further away. After only two months, when the princess and seeress Carissa is called to the south of the country, Aleksander and Elspeth aren't given the option to stay home.
Hadiqin, located in the very south of Zekhar, is steeped in history, magic, and rich Ölmesuz tradition and offers more magical knowledge than Carissa could have hoped for. Among studies and training for his own duties, Aleksander discovers one thing that stands out against the breathtaking landscape: those bearing the Wythane name are merely tolerated here, not welcome.
Now Aleksander must find a way forward. With more and more damage done in the Scourge's name, a growing distrust of seemingly everyone, and stories told of his people's past that feel more like blasphemy than fact, a time approaches when Aleksander must make a decision: who does he believe, and how will he let that belief guide him?
