Madre de Dios is an ecothriller that reveals the horrific attack that is committed every day against the largest tropical forest in the world.
Marcela, an activist in deep mourning after the murder of her spouse, tries to explain the crime that occurred when they were both filming a documentary about the ecocide perpetrated by illegal mining in the Madre de Dios region of Peru, where, in violation of environmental regulations and in complicity with government officials and criminal groups, miners extract gold from riverbeds. Despite the tragedy, Marcela decides to continue with the documentary project and immerses herself in both a physical and emotional journey through the Amazon. But the same film that her husband left unfinished could reveal the murderer, someone Marcela did not imagine and who will show that violence has also infected the very heart of the Amazonian peoples.
With a spectacular rhythm, Madre de Dios also delves into the past of the protagonists and their darkest fears.
