Magdalena's Bones is constructed from six individual storylines that begin one-thousand years in humankind's future then proceed backwards in time to the origin of the human race. The initial prologue section and the first storyline titled Mr Johnson can be construed as being in the science-fiction genre because of their time-period location. However, Magdalena's Bones should not be confused with a science-fiction novel. The remaining five storylines are not science-fiction, they are listed in the historical mythology fantasy genres with links into the back-woods regions of mainstream religion.
