The main topics are: variational formulation of Newtonian mechanics, canonical Hamiltonian mechanics, theory of canonical transformations, introduction to mechanics on Poisson and symplectic manifolds. The material is presented in a way that is at once intuitive, systematic and mathematically rigorous.
