Twenty-four sleeps. One very awake boy.
Christmas is coming. Max knows this because he has checked the calendar. Twenty-seven times. Today.
Nobody warned him that the waiting would be the hard part. December is not moving. Max has tested it: he has stared at the clock, run laps of the house and sat upside down, and time has barely shifted.
So he prepares. There are emergency carrots in the cupboard, the coat pockets, the toy box and, for reasons nobody asks about, the bathroom. Santa has been sent a fourteen-page plan.
Then comes Christmas Eve, and bedtime, and a brain that will not switch off. What if Santa forgets the house? What if the reindeer get lost? What if Christmas Eve never comes? What if he falls asleep too early? What if he stays awake for ever?
Can Max survive the longest wait of his life?
An Ellis Greaves Christmas Special. Ten short chapters and illustrations throughout: a warm, funny bedtime read for ages 7 to 11 about excitement, imagination and one very busy brain. Perfect as a stocking filler or a December read-aloud.
For fans of Max and the Thousand Thoughts and Max and the Daydream Detour.
