The Bible tells us that "the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend" (Exodus 33:11). Born into captivity in Egypt, Moses was hidden among the bulrushes of the Nile River to escape the sentence of death upon Hebrew infants. Discovered by the Pharoah's daughter, he was adopted by her and brought up in the royal palace. The Lord, however, would later instruct Moses to lead his people the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, across the Red Sea, and into the Sinai Desert. And it was on Mount Sinai, amid thunder and lightning, fire and clouds of smoke, that the Lord would speak to Moses and reveal the Ten Commandments, which were "written with the finger of God" (Exodus 31:18) upon two tablets of stone. Author Biography
Demi is the award-winning author of over 300 bestselling children's books, including Jesus, Mary, Saint Francis of Assisi, The Wisdom of Solomon, and The Psalms of King David. Her titles have sold over two million copies. The Empty Pot was selected by former First Lady Barbara Bush in 1990 as one of the books to be read on the ABC Radio Network Program Mrs. Bush's Story Time, sponsored by the Children's Literacy Initiative. Demi's book Gandhi was named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book and received an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award. Major exhibitions of her work have been held in numerous museums in the U.S., including the Time/Life Gallery in New York, the Botolph Galleries in Boston and Cambridge, and the Los Angeles County Museum. Demi won a Fulbright Scholarship to India, and in addition she represented the U.S. at the First International Children's Book Conference in Beijing, China, in 1992. She lives in Yarrow Point, WA.
