Follow along with 6-year old Ava as she takes you through a day in her life in the book "My Small Sensory Cup." Ava has sensory processing differences and is extra sensitive to some sensory inputs. In the book, Ava explains her sensory cup in a child-friendly way, and shows how different experiences throughout the day impact her sensory cup. As she navigates noisy and busy environments, energetic peers with decreased spatial awareness, a messy art project, and a smelly lunch room, Ava's sensory cup becomes full and starts to overflow, leading to a meltdown when she returns home from school. However, in the second half of the book Ava gets the chance to rewind the day, and with guidance from her mother, is equipped with the sensory strategies and tools that will help to "empty" her cup as needed throughout the day. Join Ava as she discovers the power of understanding and managing her sensory world in this uplifting and empowering children's book. Through colorful illustrations and engaging storytelling, children will learn valuable lessons about sensory regulation and self-advocacy for access to sensory tools and strategies, to help them better understand and manage their own sensory "cups." The book also includes multiple workbook-style pages at the end to engage children in reflection about their own sensory systems, as well as explore sensory tools and sensory strategies that work for each child to manage their sensory regulation.
