Step into a world of everyday adventures, family moments and faith-filled lessons with Once Upon a Crescent, a beautifully illustrated hardback collection of 10 heartwarming stories for Muslim children.
Inspired by the much-loved Once Upon a Crescent: Muslim Kids Podcast, this special collection brings together relatable stories about the situations, worries, choices and challenges children experience as they grow up. From gummy bear trouble and loose teeth to starting school, learning about hijab and finding the perfect prayer rug, each story explores familiar moments through the lives of Muslim children and their families.
What happens when Mama has an important phone call, but this just can't wait! How can gummy bears be so much trouble? Can Baba really help me with my hijab? Surely watching a video can't be that scary! Meet Sofia, Adam, Musa, Yusra, and more as they go about their daily lives, navigate their own unique situations and moral dilemmas. Sometimes the smallest worry can feel like the biggest challenge, while the simplest family moments can become treasured memories filled with laughter, love and connection.
Rooted in Islamic values, the stories gently encourage children to think about faith, kindness, honesty, responsibility, family and making good choices. With diverse characters, cultural authenticity and meaningful lessons woven naturally into every adventure, Once Upon a Crescent reflects the experiences of Muslim children growing up in an ever-changing world.
Every story includes its own QR code, allowing children to listen to Mrs Hashimi narrate the story while following along in the book. It creates an engaging read-and-listen experience.
Filled with colourful illustrations and memorable characters, Once Upon a Crescent is ideal for bedtime stories, classroom read-alouds and family story time, reminding young readers that faith, kindness and learning can always go hand in hand.
