ride4acure - One White Post at a Time is a stirring memoir of grit, grief, and grace - told from the saddle, the schoolyard, and the heart of the Australian bush.
When Maura Luxford was dumped out the back of Bourke at fourteen, she found her footing among cattle, dust, and silence. Decades later, she would ride a pushbike and horses thousands of kilometres to honour her daughter Hannah, lost to melanoma at twenty. What began as a personal pilgrimage became ride4acure - a national movement stitched together by bike pedals, hoofbeats, community, and the fierce love of a mother who refused to let heartbreak and grief have the final word.
From droving camps and dusty highways to classrooms, boardrooms, hospital corridors, and international conferences, Maura's journey is a testament to resilience, rebellion, and the power of showing up.
With poetic clarity, she shares the stories behind the treks, the people who lifted her, and the rituals that kept her grounded, all with a bush-hardened humour and humility.
This book is a powerful follow-up to Maura Luxford's debut memoir, ride4acure: Origin Story (2024), but holds its own as a standalone read.
This is not only a story of trekking - it's a love letter to country, kin, and the quiet courage it takes to keep going, one white post at a time.
