A Guide Book for Beginners - Demystifying Software Testing, Design of Experiments and Orthogonal Arrays Research/ statistics establish that 40 to 50% of the project effort is spent towards testing. Again a study by Project Management Institute shows that 90% of the projects executed are abandoned since they do not meet the specifications defined. Hence it is all the more important to determine the right parameters for testing with minimum effort to ensure successful project completion. Software Testing: Software Testing is a technique used to identify bugs in a software product. It also helps to check whether the entire customer needs have been satisfied. The testing is done at different stages in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Various approaches and techniques are in vogue. Design of Experiments (DoE): DoE is a structured methodology devised by Statisticians. It involves step by step process for designing and conducting experiments. It includes elementary statistics for analyzing and extracting information from the conducted experiments. DoE in Software Development: Software Development and design of experiments have evolved over the years, but the marriage between these two has happened only in the last 2 to 3 decades. The integration/ usage of DOE with applied statistics in Software Development provide great benefit for software projects.

His thirst for continuous learning does not subside. Even at the age of late fifties, he did research on an unique topic "Information Technology and Samskrit" and obtained Ph.D. - doctorate degree from University of Madras. He is into a project of developing a Samskrit based compiler. It is his passion to spread his knowledge and experience through conducting classes, training programmes and writing books. He has already published nine books and seven more are under printing. More books in the pipeline.
