Architectural history has devoted \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003econsiderable space to it, and yet there are important aspects \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003ethat have remained unnoticed and unexamined. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eThe first question that arises is that of the ovals on which the \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003ebuilding is based, whereby two different versions need to be examined: \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003ethe design drawing that the architect presented to his abbot \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eclient and the completed building, which could be analyzed in detail \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003efor the first time thanks to a recently created precise measurement. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eIn both cases, the result shows ambitious oval constructions that \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003edeviate from the usual practice, as well as two fundamentally different \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003egeometric approaches. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eThe second complex deals with peculiarities of perception. He runs an architectural offices in Fellbach and\u003cbr\u003e Berlin, holds the honorary professorship for building design at the\u003cbr\u003e Bauhaus University in Weimar and is the author of a number of\u003cbr\u003e books dealing with architecture and its environment, including a\u003cbr\u003e study on the iconography of 16th century Italian gardens (Die Villa\u003cbr\u003e Lante in Bagnaia, Edition Axel Menges 2001), as well as a detailed\u003cbr\u003e study of the Melnikov House in Moscow (Konstantin Melnikov und\u003cbr\u003e sein Haus\/Konstantin Melnikov and his House, Edition Axel Menges\u003cbr\u003e 2015). \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eAchim Ilchmann headed the Analysis and System Theory department\u003cbr\u003e at the Institute of Mathematics at the Technical University of\u003cbr\u003e Ilmenau from 2000 to 2022. His research areas are adaptive control\u003cbr\u003e of (non-linear) systems, the investigation of structural properties of\u003cbr\u003e differential-algebraic systems, and the algebraic treatment of timevarying\u003cbr\u003e linear systems.
