Part of the What Do I Do Now? Pain Medicine series, Painful Conditions of the Upper Limb presents clinical scenarios related to painful syndromes affecting the neck, shoulder, arm, and hand. Upper limb pain can be complex to evaluate and manage given its multiple potential etiologies, complex anatomical structures, and pain referral patterns. This volume focuses on common presenting symptoms and expands from common diagnoses and syndromes to more complex conditions that require extensive diagnostic evaluation, comprehensive approaches, and complex management strategies. Clinical scenarios will also cover the multitude of cumulative trauma disorders and their resulting functional and vocational effects, with special attention to rehabilitative management and functional restoration. Ramon Cuevas-Trisan, MD, is a physiatrist (physician specialized in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or PM&R) with nearly 25 years of experience evaluating and treating patients with neuromusculoskeletal painful disorders. He is Board Certified in PM&R and Pain Medicine. He is currently the
Associate Chief of Staff for Education & Research at the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. He holds faculty appointments from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Nova Southeastern University Patel Colleges of Allopathic and Osteopathic
Medicine, and the Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine. His main clinical interests revolve around the management of acute and chronic neuromusculoskeletal disorders and electrodiagnostic medicine.
