He was a doctoral fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence (Max-Planck-Institut), the Warburg Institute in London, and the Università degli Studi di Firenze, where he completed his PhD with a thesis on Renaissance art theory in 2015. 2016-2020, he worked as a researcher and archivist in the photo library of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence. Following this, he conducted a postdoctoral research project on photography and religion in Italy, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
