Mel had found the questioning of herself to be endless. Most of all, it was withering her inner being and this consuming vacuum needed to stop. It would stop, she assured herself to fight through; the alternative was that she would simply stop, however this manifested itself. She longed for a partner, a soul mate. She deserved a partner. Mel knew she was always meant to be loved, but Sam, her now ex long-term boyfriend, decided otherwise one night, four years ago. Sam...and Rupert! WTF!
The disintegration of her entire world had been quick, clinical and explosive that night. She screamed, listened, screamed more, cried and the dagger that had split her heart in two became fixed for a long time. The journey back to start again was long and difficult.
Dating had changed beyond all recognition since the 1990s, thanks to technology, and swiping left or right was an art she would need to master to find the man she needed. The dating pool was like a magician's mind game; what was there, what could come out, was as varied as it was unusual, challenging, awkward, or profiles that were just a tale of total fantasy and fiction.
