To the newcomer PRINCE2 can represent a bewildering array of jargon. Terms like 'integrated elements', 'principles', 'practices', 'processes' and 'management or specialist products' can easily overwhelm the most eager of students on first exposure. Understanding what these terms mean in simple language and, even more important, how all these elements of PRINCE2 fit together, is the major hurdle that needs to be overcome if the many benefits of the method are to be unlocked. IAN LAWTON is a former chartered accountant, sales executive, business consultant and IT project manager. Since 2008 he has trained more than 2500 delegates on PRINCE2 courses. He has worked for some of the market leaders in training provision such as Parity and QA, and understands how to make the method accessible to newcomers.
