Progress Not Perfection is a timely exploration of addiction and recovery, crafted for seminary students, clergy, and pastoral caregivers who want to walk through the spiritual principles of the 12 Steps with a compassionate Christ. Author Damian Geddry weaves together biblical insights, contemporary addiction studies, and a progressive Christian vision that emphasizes grace over guilt, community over isolation, and transformation over condemnation. Grounded in the belief that faith formation and recovery are deeply intertwined, the book equips readers to understand addiction not as a moral failure but as a complex human struggle that invites theological reflection and pastoral engagement.
Rather than offering quick fixes or rigid formulas, Geddry guides readers through a brief introduction to the spiritual, emotional, and theological terrain of 12-Step recovery with humility and honesty. Drawing on the lived experiences of those in recovery, Progress Not Perfection calls us to be the inspired embodiment of healing and hope. This book is an essential resource for any Christian leader seeking to embody a ministry of presence, restoration, and liberation in the face of addiction's deep wounds-and it is a reminder that the grace of God meets us not at the finish line, but in every step along the way.
