Redefining Liberal Arts Education in the Twenty-First Century delves into the essential nature of the liberal arts in America today. During a time when the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and math dominate the narrative around the future of higher education, the liberal arts remain vital but frequently dismissed academic pursuits. Robert E. Luckett Jr. is associate professor of history and director of the Margaret Walker Center at Jackson State University. He is author of Joe T. Patterson and the White South's Dilemma: Evolving Resistance to Black Advancement, published by University Press of Mississippi. His research has appeared in such publications as the Journal of Mississippi History, Fire!!! The Multimedia Journal of Black Studies, the Public Historian, and the Journal of Ethnic American Literature
