Have you ever made a really big mistake in your life? Have you ever done something that you later regretted, and wished that you could turn back the hands of time?
Have you ever wanted to have a glimpse inside a maximum-security gaol?
Wanted to know what leads a person deciding to turn their life around?
Do you think that punishment should fit the crime? Or maybe you believe that everyone deserves a second chance.
Does it intrigue you what a person who has spent nearly all their adult life inside the walls of NSW's gaols has to say about what it is like? About the countless times that he has tried to escape the constant cycle of returning to gaol, and leaving his criminal lifestyle in the past.
In RETRIBUTION OR REHABILIATION there is an interview with a person who has recently been released from maximum security gaol. The words are written just as he has said them, and this interview will give the reader insight into a new age of rehabilitation.
The author works inside a maximum-security gaol daily alongside criminals convicted of extremely violent crimes. She gives the public a glimpse of life inside the prison walls, exploring how Australia is beginning to apply principles that have been found to be successful in other gaols around the world into our own Australian gaols. Gaols where inmates have structured days full of meaningful activities. These activities allow them to see themselves as meaningful contributors to our Australian society.
The book lets you draw your own conclusions whether NSW's prisons should continue on the same path they have followed for many years or whether they should embark on different prison systems that are having much success in other countries around the world. Whether you lean towards retribution for a crime committed or rehabilitation of the offenders of these crimes this book will get you thinking about what is possible for the future of Australia.
