Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have attracted high interest over the last few decades in the wireless and mobile computing research community. Applications of WSNs are numerous and growing, including indoor deployment scenarios in the home and office to outdoor deployment in an adversary's territory in a tactical background. However, due to their distributed nature and deployment in remote areas, these networks are vulnerable to numerous security threats that can adversely affect their performance.
This problem is more critical if the network is deployed for some mission-critical applications, such as in a tactical battlefield. Random failure of nodes is also very likely in real-life deployment scenarios. Due to resource constraints in the sensor nodes, a traditional security mechanism with high overhead of computation and communication is not feasible in WSNs. Design and implementation of secure WSNs is, therefore, a particularly challenging task.
This book covers a comprehensive discussion on state-of-the-art security technologies for WSNs. It identifies various possible attacks at different layers of the communication protocol stack in a typical WSN and presents their possible countermeasures. A brief discussion on the future direction of research in WSN security is also included.

Dr. Parag Verma is working as Assistant Professor at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun. He is having a long experience of 10+ years in the field of industry and academics. Dr. Ankur Dumka is working as Associate Professor in Women Institute of Technology (Govt.), Dehradun. He is having a long experience of 10+ years in the field of industry and academics. He is associated with smart city Dehradun as an academic expert committee member and co-ordinator in terms of projects related to IT. He is having 40 + international papers in reputed conferences and journals. He has contributed 3 books with publishers like Taylor and Francis, IGI global, etc. and currently working on 3 more accepted books. He had also contributed 14 chapters for reputed publishers. Dr. Alaknanda ashok is working as dean and professor, college of technology, G.B.Pant university of Agriculture and technology, pantnagar. She is having a large administrative experience as director, women Institute of technology and controller of examiner of uttarakhand technical university. She is having more than 50 research papers in reputed journals and conferences of repute. She is having 3 patent published. She is having many research projects working under her supervision as project in charge. She is also having many book chapters and currently working on proposed books with Taylor and Francis. Dr. Anuj Bhardwaj, M. Tech. & Ph. D degree in computer science. He is currently a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering with Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab. He is having a long experience of 12+ years in the field of industry and academics. He is having 27+ international papers in reputed conferences and journals. He has contributed 2 books with publishers like Nerosa and Alpha, and currently working on 2 more accepted books. He had also contributed 6 chapters for reputed publishers. His current research interests include pattern & character recognition, graphics & vision, artificial intelligence & neural networks and machine learning.
Dr. Navneet Kaur is currently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Computer Science and Engineering at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab (INDIA). She has earned Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and holds a master's degree, with distinction in Computer Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She has more twenty years of experience in teaching and research. She has more than 30 research publications in reputed peer reviewed journals and conferences. She is the Lifetime Member of CSI and Member of ACM and IEEE. She is also editorial board member of many reputed conferences. She has also contributed book chapters for reputed publishers. She has been awarded the Best Engineering College Teacher Award for Punjab State for the year 2019 at the 49th ISTE National Annual Convention at Siksha 'O' Anusandhan, Bhubaneshwar on 29th - 30th November in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the Academic Community and the Students.
