Discover that God is your shelter amid the storms of life.
We've all experienced difficult seasons. God seems distant; prayers go unanswered; heavy emotions overwhelm us. In these times, the Psalms become a priceless resource for biblical truths we can cling to:
- God promises His presence, not a pain-free life.
- Lament and questioning are valid responses to suffering.
- We don't have to wait for our hardship to end to find rest in God.
- God is still faithful, even when everything is crumbling around us.
In 40 devotional reflections, pastor Noah Filipiak considers the ancient context of these biblical prayers and offers contemporary application for facing today's challenges. Countering the harmful teaching that God shields those He loves from illness and pain, Filipiak equips you with the Psalms' rich language of lament, prayer, and hope.
"The Psalms don't promise that the storm will end," Filipiak writes, "but they do offer God as your refuge and strength through it. I don't think I would have survived the toughest seasons of my life without them--and without Him."
Each daily reading invites you to quiet yourself in God's presence, explore an individual psalm, and end with a reflective prayer. Sit with the honesty, emotion, and hope of the Psalms, and find that you can cling to God's faithful character no matter what.
