The fabrication of silver nanoparticles and nano\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003estructures has aroused the interest of many researchers. Various synthesis\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emethods have also been developed.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAmong the existing synthesis methods, mostly chemical methods, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewhich involve toxic and potentially hazardous chemicals, are mostly\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eused. The green synthesis based on green chemistry, replaces hazardous\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003echemicals by environmental friendly products. Green Chemistry is the\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eutilization of a set of principles that reduces or eliminates the use or\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003egeneration of hazardous substances. Biological methods are better substitute\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efor the chemical procedures, because they are convenient, widely\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edistributed along the ecological boundaries and are safe to handle.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe objective of the present work is to synthesize silver nanoparticles\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eby the methods designed on the principles of green chemistry. The\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edesigned methods focus mainly on control over the size of the nanoparticles.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis work also includes the study of the effect of current (through\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethe circuit), temperature, strength of the precursor, reducing\/capping\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eagents and concentration of the capping agents on nanoparticles and the\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003enanostructures. The as-synthesized silver nanoparticles are analyzed\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eusing various characterization techniques e.g. XRD, TEM, UV-Visible\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003espectroscopy etc. This work finds application of the silver nanoparticles\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ein biomedical field. The findings of the tests conducted for antibacterial\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eproperties show almost 100% killing efficiency against E. coli, S.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAureus, S. Typhi and P. Aeruginosa. In case of testing the samples for\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eanti-cancer activities, the results show 80-98% growth inhibition for\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMC F-7 Breast Cancer cell lines and He-La cervical cancer cell lines.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe monograph contains 5 chapters. Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof silver nanoparticles, covering their properties, synthesis\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eapproaches and applications.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eChapter 2 introduces historical background of silver and narrates\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eexhaustive literature review conducted during the research.
