Eleven-year-old Kate has always been fascinated by astronomy. She loves to look up at the stars and think about the different worlds out there. Then a strange accident suddenly sends her voyaging into outer space.
One minute Kate is playing with her toy spacecraft, and the next she's dumped onto a desert planet. Kate can tell that she is very far from home. She is determined to return to Earth, but first she will have to figure out how to survive in a perilous alien environment.
As Kate begins scouting for food and water, she discovers that the mysterious planet is hiding a few secrets. She stumbles across the wreckage of ancient spacecraft from the twentieth century. But not all of the ships have been abandoned.
Soon Kate meets up with Bob, Alex, and other crew members of a past expedition. Can she trust these lost astronauts, or will they lead her to disaster?

Author Biography
Esha Kelkar has written and published two books before the age of twelve. She published her first book, Matchsticks: Collection of Small Stories, when she was only nine.
Now, at age eleven, Esha enjoys reading, writing, and playing tennis. She has won awards for her essays and hopes to continue following her passion for writing and entertaining readers.
Esha is in the sixth grade and lives with her family in Boston, Massachusetts.
