A cold January morning. A sleepy Sussex village. A nightmare becomes reality.
Thirty-one-year-old teacher Julia Trent is visiting her late parents' home in the idyllic village of Chilton, when she stumbles into a bloodbath. A deranged young man, shooting everyone in his path before taking his own life.
But Julia witnesses a truth far more sinister than a random tragedy: a second, mysterious man in black who's actions change the course of her life forever.
Miraculously surviving a gunshot wound, Julia wakes up to find that the police have dismissed her version of events. The official verdict declares it the work of a lone madman who took his own life. Case closed.
Refusing to be silenced, Julia teams up with Craig Walker, a former investigative journalist whose father died trying to save her life. Together, they plunge into a deadly conspiracy fuelled by greed and dark family secrets...
In a terrifying game of cat and mouse, Julia and Craig must fight to expose the truth-before the killer finishes the job.
