The South African economy is unique, and its structure continues to be shaped by the country's colonial and apartheid legacy. The sluggish, slow rate of economic growth continues to compound the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality in the country. To date, developmental progress has been uneven across all dimensions of the socio-economic landscape and new ideas are needed to deliver transformative outcomes.
