Sor Juana was the most important figure of the Hispanic American Baroque and a pioneer in advocating for women's access to knowledge and intellectual autonomy. Her pen, sharp and incisive, was her best weapon to defend her right to study, express herself freely, and bravely respond to the critics who sought to silence her.
