Taqwā is the prime essence of our existence in this world;
without it, one cannot truly connect with the Creator. Throughout the day, a
believer with taqwā maintains a constant connection with Allah. However, when
worldly attractions arise, such as during recreational travel, the focus on
taqwā can sometimes diminish. It is then, that we need to redirect the compass
of our hearts towards Allah.
rethink your travel habits and explore the world while refreshing your imān
(faith) through travel. Every good that we do becomes an act of worship simply
by changing our intentions. The next time you travel to discover new
landscapes, observe them with greater awareness, and you will return with the
souvenir of taqwā!

Abeer Arain, M.D., M.P.H., is a physician, writer, and avid gardener. Originally from Pakistan and raised in Saudi Arabia, she currently resides in the United States. Abeer writes about nature and Islam, self-care, and anything that could become a source of Sadaqa Jariyah (everlasting charity) for her. When she's not practicing medicine or working on her next book, she enjoys spending time in her garden, exploring waterfalls, and visiting local bookstores.
