Speeches of Hayne and Webster in the United States Senate, on the Resolution of Mr. Foot, January 1830 (1853) is a historical book that contains the speeches of Robert Young Hayne and Daniel Webster, two prominent American politicians, during a debate in the United States Senate in January 1830. The debate was centered around a resolution introduced by Senator Samuel Augustus Foot of Connecticut, which called for the reduction of federal land sales and the distribution of the proceeds to the states. Hayne, a senator from South Carolina, argued in favor of the resolution, asserting that it would help protect the rights of the states and limit federal power. Webster, a senator from Massachusetts, opposed the resolution, arguing that it was unconstitutional and would lead to the disintegration of the Union.
