Aurelia, now as Queen, is forced to face the unforeseen consequences left behind by the dragon gates. Curses begin to unravel, creatures escape the Forbidden Forest, Scalebornes turn to humans, and the ancient Lunarkeepers-who would see themselves freed at any cost-begin to infiltrate the human lands.
Aurelia and her friends are guided by Lyrux, the Scalekeeper sister of Norilus, who helps them seek the long-forgotten thirteenth dragon breed through trials in the Scalekeeper's world. While they bargain to make it through the trials, Damian is confronted with his destiny. With a choice now laid at his feet, he has to decide between the future he has always expected or the one that he now desperately needs.
With the Lunarkeeper's ancient mind-bending abilities doing everything to stop Aurelia from reinstating the curses, she risks everything she loves-including her Kingdom and Scalekind-to obtain the cursed relic and to keep the dragon safe before the poison of illusion blinds them all.
