What does it take to lead a college or university well? Strategies For Success: Effective Educational Leadership for College Chancellors and Presidents answers that question directly - for doctoral students preparing for executive roles, senior administrators ready for the next step, and sitting presidents sharpening their practice.
Organized into three parts - Foundations of Higher Education Leadership, Pathways to Executive Leadership, and Leading Institutional Change - this book covers the full arc of presidential leadership: vision and institutional direction, ethical and transformational leadership, traditional and nontraditional pathways to the presidency, executive competency development, governance and board relations, communication and stakeholder engagement, crisis leadership, and team building.
Every chapter opens with learning objectives and closes with a chapter summary and discussion questions, making Strategies For Success equally suited for graduate seminars in higher education administration and for individual professional development.
Drawing on decades of scholarship, this second edition positions the presidency and chancellorship as what they are at their best - a calling. Lead. Inspire. Transform. Leave a legacy.
