Laini Taylor es la autora de la exitosa saga «Hija de humo y hueso». Nació en 1971 en Chico, California. De pequeña vivió en Hawái, Italia, Bélgica, Virginia y California. Estudió inglés en Berkeley y un poco de ilustración y diseño. Ha sido editora de libros de viajes, librera, camarera y diseñadora. Vive en Portland, Oregón, con su marido, el ilustrador Jim Di Bartolo, y su hija.
