This book focuses on the relevance of Christianity for the twenty-first-century world. It addresses questions such as:

-Can we know that Jesus rose from the dead?
-Does Christianity have a sure foundation?
It examines Jesus's historicity, the significance of the empty tomb, and the unexpected, transformative impacts of the early disciples' encounters with the risen Lord. It then looks behind these testimonies to explore the role of the Holy Spirit in the resurrection and as the life-giving, active agent of God in the lives of Christians today. It concludes with an examination of the role of miracles, both then and now, in Christian witness.
The book's emphasis is experiential, demonstrating that Jesus Christ is not only risen from the dead but also alive today, and that Christianity has a sure foundation which can be trusted.
Author Biography
Brett Knowles formerly taught church history at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, and at the Sydney College of Divinity, Sydney, Australia. His most recent publications include Transforming Pentecostalism: The Changing Face of New Zealand Pentecostalism, 1920-2010 (2014); New Life: A History of the New Life Churches of New Zealand 1942-1979, 3rd edition (2015); and A Timeline of Global Christianity: One Thousand Significant Dates for Christianity Across the Planet--And Beyond (2019).
