Tales from the Fireside is a collection of oral narratives retold for younger readers. Its engaging stories have been selected to foster reading interest, especially in reluctant readers. The ten stories are six to twelve pages long. Their short paragraphs and less demanding vocabulary provide the perfect transition to chapter books and longer narratives. The stories are good entertainment for adults also.
Author Biography
Dr. Siaka Kroma was born in Sierra Leone. He was educated in Sierra Leone, the United Kingdom, and Canada. He taught in secondary schools and universities in Sierra Leone and the United States of America till retirement. Dr. Kroma has written extensively on the culture of Sierra Leone, capturing for his readers aspects of the culture that are fading into oblivion. Hopefully, the folk stories in this collection restore some of the oral literature lost from the culture. Dr. Siaka Kroma is the author of Gomna's Children, A Corner of Time, Climbing Lilies, and Manners Maketh Man. He lives in Nairobi, Kenya with his family from where he travels regularly to Sierra Leone and the United States of America.
