Author Biography
Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Mahzi Kane read her first poem at the dedication ceremony for the recreation center in her neighborhood in honor of her great grandmother, Marie Dendy. She would later hold her first poetry reading there. Mahzi Kane has performed at The Heal Thyself Garden Party, open mics at The October Gallery, and participated in poetry slams in Philadelphia and Camden. Mahzi Kane has penned blogs from poetry to fashion, wrote marketing and sales advertising copy and managed social media content as a freelancer. She has been a contributing writer to Da Domb newspaper, an independent press in 1998 and has has been featured in The Philadelphia Daily News Poetry Corner and Who's Who Among Young Writers Anthology. Mazhi Kane is currently working on her second fiction novel, Selfish, and is the owner and operator of Mahzi Kane Books.
