The purpose of this short collection of essays is to provide some insight into the role of Abrahamic religions in shaping the experiences of African people. The first essay is "The African Roots of Christianity." As the name suggests, this essay focuses on the African influence on the development of Christianity, but the essay is more broadly focused on how the history of African people is portrayed in the Bible's narrative.
The second essay is "Religion in the African Struggle." This essay focuses on how religion-particularly Abrahamic religion-has played a role in the global struggles of African people. This essay assesses the role of religion as a positive force for change, as well as how religion has also been used as a tool for oppressors who kept Africans in bondage.
