Additional information
by Edie George (Author)
"The Art of English Shooting" by George Edie, published in 1778, offers a fascinating glimpse into the sporting culture of 18th-century England. This book delves into the techniques and practices of shooting, providing detailed instruction on the use of firearms and the pursuit of game. Beyond its practical advice, the book serves as a historical document, reflecting the social and cultural values associated with hunting and marksmanship during this period.
Edie's work provides insights into the equipment, skills, and etiquette expected of English sportsmen. It captures a moment in time when hunting was both a means of sustenance and a recreational activity deeply intertwined with social status and land ownership. Readers interested in the history of sports, firearms, or English social life will find this a valuable and engaging resource.
