Mike Moyden used to be a cop until they busted him on trumped up bribery charges. That was a few years ago. Now his ex-wife Mary is in jail for murdering her lover, Jim Neely, and Mike is back in town. Back to face the same corruption, the same dirty deals ... the same threats of violence. Because Jim Neely's brother is Ward Neely, and he owns this town. And as far as Ward's concerned, Mary's guilty.
Mike knows she's been set up, just like he was all those years ago, but how to prove it? He's got money now, so he hires a detective to do some digging for him. He even confronts Ward Neely himself. But he can't shake Ward's belief in Mary's guilt ... now some honest folks are turning up dead. And Mike knows that, whether Mary is guilty or not, he could be next.
