Wallis knew that writing ultimately defined the job of the creative producer and that David Lewis had an uncanny talent for coaxing the best filmic material from the screenwriters he supervised. James Curtis has worked 20 years as a marketing executive and communications consultant to the computer and health care industries. He is the author of Between Flops: A Biography of Preston Sturges (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich; 1982) and James Whale (Scarecrow, 1982, first in the Filmmakers Series).
