Neither Jesus nor his first disciples knew exactly when he would return, but not long after he left the earth, Jewish rabbis and the principal leaders of the Christian church discovered that the prophets had indeed revealed the answer, one which was widely known in the Christian church until at least the sixteenth century, and is now very close.
