Cassie had everything a girl could want-popularity, beauty, and a snarky attitude ready to cut anyone down to size. But beneath the perfect exterior lived a girl hollowed out by grief, stripped of her extraordinary memory, and furious at a God she'd decided didn't exist.
Then the angel Hamaliel called her to war.
In the small town of Pinedale, Oregon, Cassie and her friends were thrust into a battle against the forces of Hell itself. When they defeated the Great Demon Lord Rasvampin, the war didn't end; instead, it began in earnest. Hell's fury, now fully awakened, turned its eyes on them.
Two more unlikely warriors joined their ranks. Nine teenagers. Nine sets of doubts, wounds, and fragile faith. Together they trained, armed themselves, and became something no demon expected: The Defenders.
But weapons can only do so much. As darkness invades their school, their town, and their very souls, the greatest battle isn't fought with steel or strategy, it's fought on their knees.
And the enemy knows exactly where each of them is most afraid to fall.
The battle for Pinedale, and for their souls, begins now.
