The legacy of war is complex. From the late twentieth century as we moved closer to the centenary of the start of World War I, Australia was swept by an "Anzac revival" and a feverish sense of commemoration. Dr Carolyn Holbrook is a post-doctoral fellow at Deakin University and the author of Anzac: The unauthorised biography. Keir Reeves is professor of Australian history at Federation University in Ballarat.
