The Italian Riviera is not merely a destination, but a rhythm, shaped by light, landscape, and the quiet rituals of daily life.
This book offers an intimate portrait of the Ligurian coast, moving beyond postcard imagery to explore a Mediterranean way of living defined by restraint, continuity, and understated pleasure. From the fishermen's houses of Camogli to the poets' gulf at Portovenere, by way of Portofino, the Cinque Terre, and the olive groves and villas of the hinterland, the Riviera is revealed through atmosphere rather than spectacle.
Blending carefully curated photography with a warm, unhurried text, The Italian Riviera: Life on the Ligurian Coast traces the enduring relationship between place, architecture, and everyday life. The focus is not on luxury as display, but on time, proportion, and the subtle beauty found in repetition: mornings by the sea, faded façades, shaded terraces, harbours at dusk, and the long presence of light.
Designed as a visual and reflective journey, this volume is both a travel book and a study of lifestyle, one that invites the reader to slow down, observe, and return to the Riviera as a state of mind rather than a season.
A companion to The French Riviera: A Mediterranean Way of Life, and a timeless coffee-table book for lovers of Italian culture, photography, and thoughtful design.
