In the middle of the 17th century, a young Jewish man took his first steps toward becoming a Susquehannock warrior and chief. Captured in a raid on a New Amsterdam settlement, Judah wins a place among the tribe that snatched him out of his simple, ordinary life of a leather goods maker. Across a wilderness and within the tribal community that he comes to lead, Judah becomes Blue Eyes, and then Blue Eagle, fighting enemy nations that were both native and colonizing.
