Alyssa Haller is the niece of a police officer. She lives in an apartment with her brother, Ryan, away from their alcoholic uncle, Will.

One day, Alyssa finds herself stumbling upon a door that leads to a magical cabin in the woods. She meets Daniel, and his best friend, Kyle, who have both been looking for her.
