Stephen Wendt is an outwardly successful man. He is a husband of thirty-four years, the father of three children, the grandfather of three, and a retired Naval Officer who served his country for almost twenty-eight years. Despite all his success, his life turns on the simple sentence: "You need to prepare yourself for the very real possibility that you have cancer." The Looking Mask is the story of Steve's five month fight with cancer. His cancer treatments include three operations, three rounds of chemotherapy and thirty-five daily radiation treatments. It is during his radiation treatments, while he is covered by a mask and bolted into a machine which immobilizes him, that Steve evaluates himself, the life he has lived and the decisions he has made in the past and those he may make in the future. Author Biography
STEPHEN KRUEGER was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1958. At the age of fourteen his father moved his family to Belize and at eighteen Steve joined the United States Navy and served for almost twenty-eight years. He retired as a Commander. In 1977, Steve married Susan, whom he met in Belize, and they have been married for thirty-eight years. They have three children and three grandchildren. He is the author of Island of the Son and Ten Thousand and a Wake-Up. He is a cancer survivor.
