The Macaw in the Kitchen is a colorful, rhyming story that uses unique characters and everyday stories to teach emotional intelligence and the importance of self-regulation to young boys and girls. The story teaches children deep breathing techniques in times of frustration to calm their bodies down so they can think clearly and find solutions to their problems on their own. Importantly, the tiny hero of the book is a boy, modeled after the author's own young sons. Now, more than ever, teaching boys to acknowledge and process their emotions is so crucial and they need to see characters that look and act like them. The book is designed for children ages 3-8 but can be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages.
