What a busy couple of years Nikka Lindstrom has had!
First, Nikka discovered that she is not exactly human but one of the Mâren, an all-female semiaquatic people-do not call them mermaids, for, as everyone knows (nudge nudge, wink wink), mermaids do not exist.
Nikka proceeded to foil Sívkka's evil scheme to use the horrible Terminus Blossom to take down human civilization, and helped to avert the capture of the Mâren by the Triton Corps, a motley crew of human-mâr transgenic hybrids.
But most significant of all, Nikka made the fateful choice to "out" herself and indeed all the Mâren to the wide world. Who can foresee the profound and far-reaching consequences of her decision?
Meanwhile, no sooner have a group of North Pole tourists gone mysteriously missing than a powerful U.S. Senator takes a keen interest in Nikka and her people.
And an enigmatic industrialist announces plans to deploy ingenious large-scale climate engineering that will gradually offset global warming...
Or so he claims.
