Additional information
by Andrew Mbaruk (Author)
"The Negro Tree collects short poems composed from mid-2024 into the beginning of 2025. Though many of its poems seem to be about animals & weather & trees, it is a collection exploring primarily blackness. There is no plot to summarize-it is a sequence of sketches (most lengthily, my pseudo-Stevensian adaptation of 'Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird' &, later, my racially recast version of Frankenstein . . .). The character Mbaruk-the poet, me-appears here and there."
