Author Biography
Don Dickinson is a distinguished advertising educator, author, and industry professional whose career bridges academia and agency leadership. He served as Director of Advertising Management at Portland State University's School of Business from 1998 to 2012 and continues as Director Emeritus. During that time, he taught nearly 200 courses, tripled program enrollment, launched two advertising minors, and led student teams to national recognition. Widely respected for his engaging teaching style, he has received multiple university awards for excellence in instruction.
Dickinson is the author or coauthor of five influential textbooks on advertising, PR, and strategic communications and before academia, he was a Senior Partner at Gerber Advertising Agency and held roles at ESCO Corporation and CBS Television.
